Our Projects
Helping Hand Program
Aloha! Helping Hand offers free or reduced-cost essential home repairs to Big Island neighbors who are struggling to get by. It covers things like leaks, broken doors or locks, safety rails, and basic plumbing or electrical fixes that keep a home safe and livable.
Who qualifies
• Household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines for Hawaiʻi
• Or currently receiving SNAP, Medicaid/Med-QUEST, SSI, or LIHEAP
• You must live in the home as your primary residence (owners and renters welcome). Renters need their landlord's approval before any repair.
How to apply
Fill out the Helping Hand request form below and upload one proof of income or benefits, such as a benefits letter, your last tax return, or 2 recent pay stubs. Every request is reviewed before it's scheduled.
Program limits
• Up to 4 hours of labor per household, once every 12 months
• Essential repairs only, no cosmetic or remodel work
• Materials at cost, or donated when available
• Limited spots each month, first-come, first-served
